Nepal’s recent flood disaster in Kathmandu and other parts of the country have triggered landslides, major damage and loss of life, with at least 217 killed and thousands more displaced, injured or missing.
With roads to the capital having been cut off, this has delayed the supply of aid and food. Buildings have collapsed, mudslides buried moving cars, and precious crops and livelihoods have been destroyed. The damage in remote areas outside Kathmandu is currently being evaluated.
Our partner has swung into action and has mobilised a network of volunteers, churches, and local government representatives to deliver aid as soon as possible. They’ve asked for our help to raise funds to supply urgently needed food, blankets and tarpaulins to a group of around 600 vulnerable people they’ve identified, which includes new mothers with babies, pregnant women, elderly Nepalis and people with disabilities.

You can help if you’d like to by contributing to one of these relief packs:
£20 could provide water purifier, soap and cleaning materials.
£40 could provide seeds and fertiliser for replanting food supplies.
£100 could provide tarpaulin and a foam mattress for someone without protection from the rain.

We have heard so many heartbreaking stories of lives being taken, churches and homes being swept away, and hopes shattered. Many of the people hardest hit have been amongst the poorest, who lived in “sukumbasi" (temporary shelters) alongside the river. Your compassion and support for them is especially valuable. All those affected are in our thoughts and prayers, please keep them in yours.
